You are cordially invited to come play free music! Every month, the Red Room hosts the Volunteers’ Collective, a free session of experimental and improvised music. In this cordial, informal setting, we focus on listening and collaboration. Players of all skill levels participate.
Try out a new technique or new instrument in a non-judgemental setting. Meet new and veteran improvisers. Bring a friend. Experience new brain-states.

Curious about the format? Loosely called a workshop rather than jam session, our main mode of operation involves selecting small subsets of attendees to play for several minutes at a time. It’s like a miniature High Zero Festival for locals. Typically, everyone gets opportunities to play multiple times with many different performers. We occasionally practice small and large group exercises to increase our options as performers. We have a projection screen and a nice PA, although many play unamplified or with their own loudspeaker. Come check it out!
