INGRID LAUBROCK – TOM RAINEY DUO (sax, drums), plus solo and collaborative set with Sam Pluta (electronics/computer)

Ingrid Laubrock (saxophones) and Tom Rainey (drums) will be celebrating the release of their latest c.d. “Counterfeit Mars.”.

The duo’s music draws on the several years and many projects they have shared since they began working together more than fifteen years ago. Their experiences of playing original compositions, open improvisations and even standard songs inform the duos improvising and approach to composition.
“Two musicians each with intimate understanding about their counterpart’s abilities, tendencies, and artistic vision delve fearlessly into each other. Then, over the course of the encounter, we see the results unfold: forays and feints, clashes and parries, trust and surrender. Finally we have available a recording of a rewarding duo pairing saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock with drummer Tom Rainey.”
