Ear Fatigue and Coy Fish and mid-winter howls.
Ear Fatigue‘s patented FORMANT CANONS are set to obliterate for their debut performance. Jimmy Joe Roche and Samuel Burt celebrate Sam’s birthday with a blowout set of inhuman utterances and bestial conjuring. Jimmy will play electronics and vocals. Sam will play the daxophone through a talk box. The convergence of multiplied axes of control will summon unpronounceable words of destruction from the fifth dimension.
Coy Fish returns to the Red Room with another set of free music, art, and audience participation. You may have been lucky enough to hear one the many performances of Sarah Hughes’ Coy Fish in 2018. The band consists of Sarah Hughes on reeds and words, Samuel Burt on daxophone and clarinet, Dan Ostrow on bass, and Nate Scheible on drums. Each player and instrument brings a vocabulary of improvisational styles that playfully merge and diverge, dancing between the boundaries of idiomatic and extended techniques. Coy Fish occasionally incorporates conceptual composition and word art, including group improvised painting. For this session, the audience is invited to sculpt something colorful with provided modeling clay. [Bandcamp]
