In search of the same sound, an upright bass no longer functions in the supporting role and a guitar is not used as a melodic or chordal instrument. An instrument is only a tool used to achieve the whole palette of sounds.

Tatsuya Nakatani & Nakatani Gong Orchestra

Japanese American percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani brings his famed Nakatani Gong Orchestra to Baltimore on Saturday May 3rd at the EMP Collective. The concert will feature a solo percussion set by Nakatani followed by the Nakatani Gong Orchestra. Nakatani has recruited a cabal of local artists to fill the orchestra for the Baltimore performance, including M.C. Schmidt, Owen Gardner, Lexie Mountain, Neil Feather, Paul Neidhardt, Caroline Marcantoni and Andrew Bernstein.
