A NIGHT OF CELESTIAL JOURNEYS INTO THE BEYOND

TOBY SUMMERFEILD

Bassist, Guitarist, Pedal Steeler
Composer, Collaborator,
Improviser
Toby Summerfield (1978) has
worked in creative music for 30
years. Operating in a space where
rock music, minimalism, songcraft,
improvising, atmosphere and
emotion coexist.
“This solo practice was born in the
loneliness of the pandemic, by
reflecting on vocabulary and
technique I have developed to
interact with my Music Friends. By
remembering the way the two
musical bodies fit together. It is an
exploration of my relationship with
my instrument, physically,
technically, emotionally. As a
composer, collaborator and fan.
The sounds are hypnotic and
meditative, questioning and
challenging and soothing.
Percussive and roiling. A cloud to
sit in and be pushed around by.

DAOURE DIONGUE

Daoure (“David” in Wolof) Diongue is a performer‑composer from Baltimore, MD. He uses time-based audio processing to explore memory, identity, and the integration of his lived and inherited experiences.

Drawing on his Senegalese heritage, he studies folk music from around the world—especially African and Islamic traditions. His recent work reflects these influences through kamele ngoni (a West African string instrument), tar (a North African/Middle Eastern frame drum), and voice alongside saxophone, keyboards, and electronics.

Shado[w], his debut EP, “brought African rhythms and melodies from that tradition together with jazz, R&B, and glitchy electronics” (Bandcamp). His upcoming LP, a suite for chamber ensemble and electronics entitled I Come from Blues Forms and Hungry Ghosts, received a Creativity Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council in 2025.

In addition to his solo work, he has collaborated with notable artists, including Gary Bartz, Dan Deacon, and Abdu Ali, and has performed at venues such as the Kennedy Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Baltimore Museum of Art.

ADAM HOLOFCENER

Adam G Holofcener (He/They) (www.adamgholofcener.com) is a composer and performer from Baltimore, USA. Their work ebbs and flows between digital and analog efforts with an emphasis on a synergistic interplay between the two: one informing the other, literally and otherwise, ad infinitum. The theoretical underpinnings for their work come from a variety of sources but primarily congeal around the personal and communal ethical and existential morays formed by the body politic. They are a proud member of the collective known as MOWDER OYAL (www.mowderoyal.com). They just released a new tape of atonal nylon string guitar etudes called The Not Really Reckoning Ebb. It is available for purchase here: https://adamgholofcener.bandcamp.com/album/the-not-really-reckoning-ebb
