Bark Culture is a trio led by Victor Vieira-Branco on vibraphone, featuring John Moran on bass and Joey Sullivan on drums. The Philadelphia-based group charters new territory in the limited history of vibraphone trios. Vieira-Branco incorporates his time spent in both Chicago and Sao Paulo, Brazil, into his compositions, as they provoke an intersection of energy and abstraction while celebrating the socialness of this music. Sullivan and Moran are both singular voices and stunning improvisers in their own, and with Vieira-Branco, the group culminates in a powerhouse of sound that leaves no set of dynamics unexplored. Although the group has toured the northeast of the United States several times, they are currently finalizing their first record.
