I played recently in (in another record store venue) Pittsburgh and this group opened for us and they were GREAT. I asked them to play at the Red Room sometime.

How Things Are is a contemporary electroacoustic band featuring composer Brian Riordan and filmmaker David Bernabo. The duo plays acoustic objects, synthesizers, and custom electronic software that allows for real-time composition and processing. Emergent Godlike Global Brain, released on Ongoing Box in 2025, is their debut release.
The duo is a subset of the trio How Things Are Made, which was formed in 2016 with Matt Aelmore. As a trio, the band has released 86 records, produced five durational concerts events, and commissioned 50 compositions from the likes of Sarah Hennies, Helen He, and Jonghee Kang.
Opening for them will be a group of locals. This group includes myself. It is Shelly Purdy (percussion), Sam Pluta (self written software sampling and processing) and M. C. Schmidt (amplified objects, SAMPLR).
